John Garrett concentrates his practice on product liability and commercial litigation within the life sciences and automotive industries. He focuses on managing and preparing cases for trial with litigation experience that includes the defense of local and national medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers in individual and coordinated proceedings. In addition, John defends personal injury and property damage litigation arising out of product liability, business premises, automotive and environmental accidents.
John has considerable experience in eDiscovery and has managed large-scale electronic productions in mass tort litigation with a deep understanding of the processes required to identify, collect and review electronic data. John has directed and managed depositions for national pharmaceutical manufacturers in mass tort litigation, including assistance in the preparation of company witnesses and sales representatives.
John has managed automotive warranty and automotive / ATV dealer-related litigation, including dealer termination disputes, product-related consumer finance matters and other dealer-related litigation. John’s experience also includes environmental exposure cases involving ground water contamination and legionella, as well as defending life insurance policy claims and disputes. John has worked on behalf of the railroads defending employee lawsuits arising under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act and grade-crossing accidents.
From case inception and pretrial motions to trial and appeal, John has a thorough understanding of all phases of litigation including fact investigation, development and strategy, discovery and motion practice. He has argued for dismissals on his clients’ behalf in dozens of cases and at all stages of litigation.
Outside of his practice, John serves as the Financial Director for the Belterra Marlins Swim Team and coaches his children in youth sports.
