John Garrett concentrates his practice on product liability and commercial litigation within the life sciences and automotive industries. With first chair trial experience, John focuses on the efficient and strategic management of cases through trial that includes the defense of local and national medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers in individual and coordinated proceedings. In addition, John defends personal injury and property damage litigation arising out of product liability, business premises, automotive and environmental accidents.
John has considerable experience in eDiscovery and has managed large-scale electronic productions in mass tort litigation with a deep understanding of the processes required to identify, collect and review electronic data. John has directed and managed depositions for national pharmaceutical manufacturers in mass tort litigation, including assistance in the preparation of company witnesses and sales representatives.
John has managed automotive warranty and automotive / ATV dealer-related litigation, including dealer termination disputes, product-related consumer finance matters and other dealer-related litigation. He also handles other aspects of financial litigation for clients, ensuring adequate protection of creditor rights and debt collection under Texas and Louisiana law. More recently, John has managed environmental exposure cases involving ground water contamination and legionella. He began his career defending employee lawsuits arising under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act and from grade-crossing accidents.
Outside of his practice, John serves as the President of the Belterra Marlins Swim Team and coaches his children in youth sports.
