Katherine Bell-Moss is a seasoned litigator who defends pharmaceutical manufacturers in complex product liability litigation. With almost 30 years of experience in litigation and appeals, almost exclusively in the areas of product liability and health care defense, Katherine has represented multinational pharmaceutical and other companies in mass tort and product liability lawsuits as well as health care providers and hospitals in medical malpractice and regulatory matters. She has handled individual and mass tort cases from inception through final appeals in federal and state courts, including more than 25 trials.
Over the course of her career, Katherine has prepared, presented and cross-examined hundreds of scientists, prescribers, treaters, thought leaders and retained experts, as well as thousands of party and fact witnesses (including marketing and corporate witnesses), both at deposition and trial. Her ability to evaluate pre- and post-marketing studies/data and to effectively converse with company scientists, clinical trial investigators and experts makes her well-suited to develop strategic causation defenses. She has repeatedly obtained favorable case-ending rulings after crafting and arguing Daubert and qualifications challenges, as well as cutting-edge dispositive motions.
Katherine’s passion and focus is the life sciences arena, and her defense experience includes breast implants, contraceptive implants, dopamine agonists, diet drugs, acne medication, bisphosphonates, spinal cord stimulators, vaccines, SSRIs, benzodiazepines, general anesthetics, intravenous sedatives, antibiotics, orthopedic hardware, surgical mesh and uterine manipulators. In addition to product defense, her clients often seek her counsel on compliance and risk concerns in anticipated or ongoing litigation and regulatory matters.
In her spare time, Katherine enjoys live music, cooking and spending time outdoors – hiking, biking and boating.
