As a national product liability firm to Ford Motor Company, Bowman and Brooke served as Lead Trial Counsel in Kokeny v. Ford. Following two weeks of trial, an Oakland County Circuit Court jury returned a unanimous defense verdict – no cause on January 23, 2020, in this alleged design and manufacturing defect case.

The case involves a concussion and traumatic brain injury claim by plaintiff Kokeny who alleged the passenger side, rearview mirror on her 11-day-old 2018 Ford Escape detached from its housing on the outside of the vehicle and moved laterally into the passenger cabin, bounced upward off the front passenger seat, and struck Plaintiff on the right side of the face causing her injuries. Ford proved at trial that all of Ford’s manufacturing, assembly and inspection processes were followed for this subject mirror. Additionally, the defense relied upon basic laws of motion to prove Plaintiff’s claim is impossible.

Ford was represented at trial by Tom Branigan of Bowman and Brooke LLP
