There are 10 new SCOTUS members after Detroit Partner David Campbell led a diverse group of lawyers from the State Bar of Michigan (including a former Michigan Supreme Court Justice) to Washington D.C. last month.
Everyone in the 10-person group – including a former Michigan Supreme Court Justice – was sworn in personally by Chief Justice Roberts as new SCOTUS members. Admission dates were booked more than a year in advance, but according to the group, the whirlwind day trip was well worth it.
In addition to having special seating for the oral argument, which itself consisted of 2 cases about arbitration stays and copyright enforcement, the trip included a pre-admission networking dinner with SCOTUS advocate Lori Windham and breakfast inside the Supreme Court.
