Miami Associate Carolina Piñero has been recognized by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as one of the top “40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers of South Florida.” She received this award because of her work ethic, dedication to the legal profession, and her unwavering commitment to making our world a better place through her community service.

As a member of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (MDFAWL), Carolina is the co-chair of the Pro Bono Committee. In this role, she has organized several events that work to empower some of the most vulnerable populations in our society: foster kids, survivors of domestic violence, and undocumented immigrants. For example, Carolina planned a jamboree for youth in the foster care system. And for the third year in a row, Carolina coordinated a Halloween party for women and children living in a local domestic violence shelter.

The pro bono work she has done for the immigrant community has been admirable. She organized an immigration clinic, providing free consultations to nearly 100 participants. In addition, she put on a “Know Your Rights” event, educating the over 150 attendees on what they can do if they are ever stopped by law enforcement or ICE.

Prior to joining Bowman and Brooke, Carolina’s main area of practice was immigration law. She made local news in both Spanish- and English-language media outlets when she represented a thirteen-time Emmy Award winning director and producer who was targeted for deportation. Her exposure in this high-profile case, along with her public service projects, is what set her apart to be awarded for this distinguished honor.
