Columbia, South Carolina Partner Dick Willis recently received the "2012 Distinguished Legal Writing Award" for his article, "Ten Commandments of Cross-Examination' Get A Much-Needed Revision," which first appeared in South Carolina Lawyers Weekly and again in Michigan Lawyers Weekly. The Burton Awards for Legal Achievement recognize the thirty-five best law firm writers of the year, and the winners are chosen from the entries submitted by the nation's 1,000 largest and most prestigious law firms. Dick's article was chosen for conveying effective legal writing, as the program honors partners in law firms and law school students who use plain, clear and concise language in their writing.
