Stephen Coxhead is a trial attorney with over 25 years of experience representing clients in various industries involving product liability claims. While a significant portion of his practice involves defending manufacturers of aircraft, airframes and component parts, Steve’s practice also includes representing manufacturers of heavy equipment and industrial machinery in the electrical and mining industries.
He has defended his clients in matters arising from aviation crashes, mass casualty, wrongful death, electrocution and amputation injury claims alongside general liability claims. Known for his technical acumen across products in a multitude of industries, Steve has served as both trial and appellate counsel, handling a variety of cases throughout all phases of litigation.
As an industry leader in aviation litigation defense, Steve has achieved positive verdicts for clients arising from aviation accidents that have occurred around the globe. He was counsel for a major airplane manufacturer in a lawsuit arising from the largest air disaster in Italian aviation history, achieving decisions in his client's favor in the lower courts and culminating in a decision fully vindicating his client in the highest court in Italy. Additionally, Steve has handled litigation arising from aviation accidents occurring in South America, Central America and the Caribbean, involving both general aviation and commercial aircraft. Steve has spoken at national and international conferences regarding defenses that are available to aviation manufacturers, as well as the potential problem of counterfeit parts in the worldwide aviation supply chain.
Outside of work, Steve is dedicated to the community of Southern Florida. He has served on multiple nonprofit boards, including the Coral Gables Community Foundation, League of Prosecutors and Miami Children Hospital Founder’s Society.
