Minneapolis Associate David Carrier has been named a 2019 "Up & Coming Attorney" by Minnesota Lawyer magazine. He is among local lawyers who have distinguished themselves by their professional accomplishments, community leadership and commitment to the profession in their early years of practice.
David represents the largest manufacturers and financial institutions in the country in product liability actions and complex commercial litigation, and is also a member of Bowman and Brooke’s Appellate and Advanced Motions group.
Since joining Bowman and Brooke in 2017, David has represented Minnesota-based Ecolab Inc. in numerous chemical and toxic tort actions in courts across the country. David also represents other local and well-known manufacturers in national litigation, including medical device manufacturer, Smiths Medical, Inc. and Owatonna-based exercise and weight equipment manufacturer Cybex International, Inc. David is currently part of a team representing Cybex International, Inc. in the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico against product liability claims asserted by an Olympic hopeful who suffered paraplegia in an alleged weight-lifting accident.
Outside of his work at Bowman and Brooke, David is a member of the Federal Bar Association Golf Tournament Committee, where he and fellow committee members are working to develop a community-service component to the Federal Bar Association’s annual golf tournament and to work with affinity bar groups to increase involvement in the event among the Federal Bar Association’s diverse members.
David has also served his alma mater, the University of St. Thomas School of Law by previously serving on the Alumni Giving Committee and coaching various moot court teams through 2018. During that time, the school’s 2014 ABA National Moot Court team advanced to the national finals of the competition and was award the best brief in the national competition. Along with his wife and young daughter, David is a member of the Northwest Islamic Community Center in Plymouth.
The 2019 group of "Up & Coming Attorneys" will be honored alongside the "Unsung Legal Heroes" on September 11 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis. Minnesota Lawyer will publish a special section in their September issue profiling the honorees.
