Rachelle Velgersdyk knows what it takes to work for a trial firm, having stood up in court to represent clients in criminal proceedings. She brings this resiliency to her associate practice of product liability litigation for medical device clients.
Rachelle is heavily involved in all active claims and litigation nationwide for a device manufacturer. Day in and day out, she advises in-house counsel on the defense of men's health products from the early stages of a claim through litigation. She performs thorough research and review of medical records, internal documents and reports concerning each individual claim. Whether advising on settlement agreements or working up summary judgments, Rachelle is committed to serving her client's best interest in the courtroom and the boardroom.
Her additional work for medical device manufacturers involves arguments of preemption and extensive research into premarket approval regulations. Rachelle particularly enjoys the early stages of a case where strategy is built.
Rachelle previously represented clients during arraignments, probation violation hearings, and pre-trial hearings as a student attorney at the 10th District Public Defender’s Office. This courtroom experience taught her to be quick on her feet as she routinely met with prosecutors, negotiated plea agreements and argued sentencing in front of a judge.
Rachelle travels whenever she can and has visited four continents, 23 countries and countless cities to date. She also coaches a moot court team for her alma mater.
