Ed Thompson devotes his practice to the defense of clients in product liability, premises liability and general liability cases in state and federal courts throughout Florida and in several other states. Ed has defended manufacturers and sellers of motor vehicles, electrical equipment, building materials, electronic devices, household appliances, off-road vehicles, power tools, recreational products and watercraft. He has also defended clients in toxic tort actions involving asbestos, Chinese drywall and chemical products.
Ed represented clients in a wide variety of premises liability and general liability matters, with a focus on safety issues related to vehicle fleet operations, theme parks, sports venues, athletic and recreational activities and animal interaction programs. He also consults with his clients on risk management, accident prevention, and regulatory compliance issues.
Before entering the private sector, Ed served as a judge advocate in the United States Air Force, where he tried more than 100 criminal cases as a military prosecutor and defense counsel. He also represented the Air Force in a broad range of civil, international, and operational law matters. In 2002, he was deployed to Kyrgyzstan as the staff judge advocate of a nine nation Air Expeditionary Wing in support of U.S.-led coalition operations in Afghanistan.
