Ryan Jones works primarily as a product liability litigator and regularly defends manufacturers against defect, breach of warranty, lemon law, consumer protection, fire subrogation, and negligence claims. This practice has allowed Ryan to work on a variety of cases from small claims to appeals, and he has represented automotive manufacturers, as well as manufacturers of recreational and sports vehicles, clean energy products, drugs and medical devices, and heavy equipment. Ryan has experience in every case work-up stage, including discovery coordination, corporate representative preparation and presentation, and dispositive motion practice, and he has pursued multiple early summary judgment motions on behalf of his clients, both in Texas and nationwide. He has also tried a case to verdict involving automotive warranty claims in a Houston, Texas jury trial.
When analyzing a new matter, Ryan eschews a “one size fits all” approach and works to understand the client’s needs as well as the appropriate response that the case facts demand. His thorough knowledge of the applicable law and procedural rules ensure that cases proceed in an informed and strategic manner. From a file management perspective, he also works with in-house counsel to confirm their budgetary and formal filing requirements are met.
Ryan’s academic approach to his practice is further reflected in his activity outside of the office, including several published articles and his work instructing SMU Dedman School of Law students through the Mack Kidd Administrative Law Moot Court competition. Ryan has a continuing fondness for his native state of Louisiana and visits regularly, whether to visit Jazz Fest, cheer on the Pelicans, Saints, and Green Wave, or just eat a lot of good food. He also enjoys film, running, and caring for foster kittens through the SPCA of Dallas.
