Ryan McCarthy is an associate in the firm’s Minneapolis office who concentrates his practice on defending manufacturers in product liability litigation. From case inception to trial and appeal, he draws on his written and oral advocacy skills to obtain favorable outcomes for his clients.
Ryan has extensive experience conducting pretrial motions, settlement conferences and appellate arguments. He also has prepared responses for habeas petitions, drafted appellate briefs, responsive motions and memorandums of law.
Prior to joining Bowman and Brooke Ryan served as the assistant county attorney in the Dakota County Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted adult felony crimes occurring within the county. He also represented the state at felony jury or court trials, felony arraignments and first appearances, omnibus and contested omnibus hearings, contested evidentiary hearings, pretrial motion hearings, settlement conferences, and appellate arguments. Additionally, he served as a Deputy Solicitor General for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe where he represented, counseled and advised the Band government in natural resource law, treaty rights, criminal prosecution, civil litigation, child support and child protection, contract review, housing and home loan policy, gaming and employment and labor relations.
While obtaining his J.D. Ryan served as a legal extern and scholarship recipient at Target Corporation where he researched, drafted and presented project materials for corporate counsel.
In addition to his practice, Ryan is committed to supporting diversity and inclusion in the legal community and holds leadership roles on the Minnesota State Bar Association, Minnesota Alliance with Youth, Warren Burger Inn of Court and the Federal Bar Association.
