Parris Schmidt represents a wide array of clients with cases involving product liability claims. With an emphasis in construction defect litigation, he represents developers, general contractors, subcontractors and product manufacturers in multi-party complex construction defect, mold, and personal injury actions involving condominium and single-family home developments and mixed-use commercial and housing projects throughout Northern California.
His experience representing both developers/general contractors as well as subcontractors and material suppliers gives him the ability to understand the unique issues involved on both sides. This understanding and experience allows Parris to represent his clients better and obtain favorable results. For his developer and general contractor clients, Parris has successfully negotiated favorable settlements and recovered a substantial portion of the defense fees and costs from the additional insured carriers. In addition to his developer and general contractor clients, Parris also represents framing and concrete subcontractors. He has handled numerous cases involving claims of "sulfate attack," alkali silica reaction, moisture intrusion and other alleged foundation defects brought by plaintiffs' attorneys.
Parris has jury trial experience as well as experience with binding arbitration. His most recent jury trial included a six-week complex construction defect case, which resulted in a defense verdict and an award of costs and expert fees for his framing contractor client. Parris successfully defended the jury's verdict on appeal and petition to the Supreme Court.
