Mike Carey is a passionate and creative trial lawyer who represents his corporate clients in high-stakes product liability and complex commercial litigation. He has spent much of his career in the courtroom, trying numerous cases to verdict in state and federal courts across the country.
Mike’s national product liability practice focuses on defending the automotive industry. Mike has chaired trials involving wrongful death, quadriplegia, and other catastrophic injury with allegations ranging from unintended acceleration to occupant restraint system performance and roof strength. Mike has also defended defense verdicts on appeal, including oral argument at the Ninth Circuit. His automotive practice also includes defending fire subrogation claims at trial. Mike frequently publishes and speaks on emerging industry issues, including advanced vehicle technologies.
In his commercial litigation practice, Mike has tried cases involving misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, software licensing disputes, and fraudulent transfer. He has also argued at the Minnesota Court of Appeals in cases involving the enforceability of personal guarantees and conversion of private property by the government.
Outside of the courtroom, Mike and his wife have four children. He enjoys volunteering as a youth hockey and soccer coach for their teams. He is also an avid outdoorsman and bow hunter.
