Matt Smaron defends medical device companies in product liability litigation and a variety of clients in commercial litigation.
As a summer associate at Bowman and Brooke before completing law school, Matt conducted research on a variety of product liability and commercial litigation issues and drafted legal memoranda and dispositive motions as well as discovery requests and responses. He also spent time drafting chapter seven bankruptcy schedules and petitions with the Cozen O’Connor Consumer Bankruptcy Clinic.
While in law school, Matt served as a student attorney through an externship with the Wright County (Minnesota) Public Defender, where he negotiated on behalf of clients and represented them in court hearings. In 2019, Matt received an American Bar Association Best Advocate Award at the Portland Regional Moot Court competition.
In his spare time Matt enjoys being outdoors and working on his family’s farm and playing basketball. He is also an avid reader, particularly history, political science, philosophy and literature. One recent favorite from his reading list was The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
