John Ackley is an associate focused on product liability defense and commercial litigation. He is also active in the firm’s appellate practice, applying his previous experience as an appellate law clerk to help achieve his clients’ goals.
Before joining the firm, John clerked for the Honorable Lucinda E. Jesson of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. By reviewing trial records, briefing the court on legal issues, making recommendations, and drafting opinions, he gained valuable insight into the appellate arena and the inner workings of the judicial decision-making process. Beyond his appellate work, John served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Richard H. Kyle in the federal district court of Minnesota.
John sharpened his litigation skills in many ways during law school, including successfully representing indigent clients as a student attorney at unemployment-compensation hearings. Drawing from these experiences, John applies the oral advocacy and strategic writing skills he acquired to better serve his clients.
Outside of practicing law, John enjoys spending time with his friends, family and two cats. He also loves to cook.
