Chris Bascom practices in product liability and class action defense with an emphasis on appellate and advanced motions. He is involved in all phases of federal and state litigation at the trial and appellate level, combining extensive legal writing experience with a deep understanding of local, federal, and appellate procedural rules.
Chris applies his skill in legal research, writing, and analysis to support each stage of litigation his clients encounter. He drafts and argues dispositive, expert-related, and in limine motions, identifies and preserves legal issues during discovery and trial, and continues to fight for his clients through appellate advocacy.
Prior to joining Bowman and Brooke, Chris served for two years as law clerk to the Hon. Joel C. Hoppe on the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia, where he gained substantial experience navigating complex legal issues and drafting orders and opinions related to every facet of trial practice. He also drafted multiple appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit while interning at the United States Attorney's Office.
Outside of his practice, Chris enjoys traveling, backpacking, and coaching youth soccer.
