Scott Paxton is a partner whose practice focuses on defending manufacturers in high-exposure product liability cases. He actively manages cases for numerous clients, working to find creative ways of keeping costs down while making the best case-management decisions possible and remaining a credible trial threat. Scott evaluates cases within their initial 90 days, allowing his clients to make intelligent decisions about which cases to settle, and which are trial candidates, before significant time or resources are invested.
Scott’s experience representing some of the nation's largest automotive clients encompasses a wide range of defect allegations and spans all areas of automotive design, including everything from airbags, seatbelts, passive restraints and window glazing to roofs, seatbacks, tires and gas tanks. In ten years with Bowman and Brooke, Scott has managed and defended cases in 34 states across the nation.
Scott has over ten years of trial experience, including second-chair responsibility on six multi-million dollar products cases that were tried to verdict in Owensboro, Kentucky; Reno, Nevada; Stockton, California; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Fort Myers, Florida and Tampa, Florida. He is well versed in all phases of litigation, including fact investigation, expert depositions, witness and expert preparation; marshalling cross-examination on technical issues; motion practice; oral argument; and direct and cross examination of witnesses at trial.
Recognized by his peers for his achievements in the courtroom, Scott has been named a “Rising Star” four times by Minnesota Super Lawyers Magazine. In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, traveling through Europe, playing guitar, and following his hometown sports teams in Detroit, Michigan.
