Minneapolis, MN (January 19, 2017) – Bowman and Brooke LLP is proud to announce that it has been honored once again by Law360 as a Product Liability Group of the Year for its 2016 defense wins in the motor vehicle, medical device, and sports equipment industries. It is the seventh time that Bowman and Brooke has achieved top recognition in this category.

As part of the 2016 Practice Group of the Year award announcements, Law360 also published a profile highlighting Bowman and Brooke’s 2016 expansion in Miami and Orlando along with several of the firm’s professional achievements on behalf of clients in multiple industries.

Among Bowman and Brooke’s many defense wins in 2016, Law360 highlighted four key cases representing the breadth and depth of the firm’s product liability practice. These included:

  • Representation of Kia Motors in a Fifth Circuit case in which the court upheld the dismissal of a suit with millions of dollars in potential exposure;
  • Successful efforts by Bowman and Brooke on behalf of medical device maker Breg, Inc. to successfully deny class certification in the California suit;
  • Ongoing representation of football helmet manufacturer Riddell Inc. in the high-profile concussion litigation brought by a group of college athletes, which led to the denial of class certification a third time;
  • The firm’s work on behalf of Takata in an $80 million Florida lawsuit concerning an alleged seatbelt defect claim, resulting in a unanimous defense verdict.

"We’ve defended highly complex products cases since the founding of the firm 32 years ago. It’s what we do day in and day out," Firm Chair Paul Cereghini said to Law360. "When you do something every day for over thirty years, you tend to get really good at it."

Of particular note, Bowman and Brooke has continued to grow beyond its signature automotive industry practice, broadening its product liability defense brand on behalf of multiple other types of manufacturers.
