Crash Data Retrieval

Bowman and Brooke is recognized for our experience as trial lawyers, principally as it relates to automotive litigation.  Our litigation experience and track record establish our firm as a benchmark in the automotive industry.  We search for methods to add value to our services, while addressing the needs of our clients.  As such, we have added a discipline to our automotive practice that compliments our extensive experience as automotive litigation authorities – Crash Data Retrieval.

Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) is the process of downloading pre-crash and crash data, from an accident vehicle’s airbag module, to a laptop computer.  This can be used to help reconstruct the accident, and may include:

• engine speed (RPM/100)
• vehicle speed
• brake switch circuit status
• driver’s seat belt switch circuit status
• time from vehicle impact to air bag deployment
• maximum recorded velocity change

Beginning in 1994, select models of automobiles from General Motors, Ford, Saab and Isuzu were equipped with air bag modules, supported by the Crash Data Retrieval System developed by Vetronix in conjunction with these manufacturers.  Our investigator has been certified by Vetronix to download these modules.  This information is used by:

• law enforcement
• insurance companies
• NHTSA
• accident reconstructionists

Our investigator has more than 23 years of investigative experience associated with motor vehicle and recreational vehicle accidents, in addition to training and certification to download data using the CDR.  By combining our experience and success in automotive product liability with this new service, we are able to better serve your automotive litigation needs.  Please contact Keith Konnie, Investigator, located at our Detroit office, to learn more about this service.
