Courtney Shytle has a wide-range of litigation experience in federal and state courts at both the appellate and trial level. She practices primarily in the areas of product liability and commercial litigation, as well as managing cases involving toxic torts, including asbestos claims. Courtney's trial experience focuses on the defense of automotive products, including automobiles, motorcycles, forklifts, and tires.
Most recently, Courtney's practice has grown to defend some of the nation's largest companies in commercial litigation. She has represented multiple product manufacturers and a major retail company in premises liability and personal injury cases, and has extensive experience defending consumer product manufacturers in both state and federal courts. Clients retain Courtney for her experience in analyzing medical records, interviewing and preparing fact witnesses, as well as preparing, defending, and deposing expert medical witnesses in a variety of premises liability, personal injury, and product liability litigation.
Courtney has handled litigation matters for long-term care facilities, including claims alleging deviation from the standard of care and premises liability. She also has experience managing premises liability litigation for major retailers.
Courtney previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Karen J. Williams, Chief Judge of the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also worked as a staff attorney for the South Carolina Court of Appeals. Courtney is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.
