Andrea L. Moody is a partner with noteworthy experience defending Fortune 50 companies in high profile cases ranging from commercial and insurance litigation to manufacturers in complex product liability litigation cases. Specifically, she has represented automotive manufacturers, food manufacturers, household appliance manufacturers, insurance companies, and individual business owners. Andrea has gone to trial several times, with active roles at counsel table examining witnesses and arguing evidentiary issues.
Andrea also has significant experience with pattern litigation. She has defended the nation's largest automakers in claims alleging identical defects in multiple venues. Throughout this work, Andrea has worked with clients to plan strategic national defense strategies.
She has also served as an interim discovery attorney for a major corporation, responsible for responding to discovery requests in pattern litigation. Her work in this regard also required that she supervise and coordinate massive document productions, while handling extensive discovery motion practice. She has also assisted clients with responding to governmental inquiries and the production of documents associated with those inquiries.
Andrea's experience and work in the defense of her clients has afforded her the opportunity to create precedential case law. The Michigan Court of Appeals ruled in favor of her client's arguments that the Apex Doctrine should be adopted in Michigan and extended to high ranking corporate officials. See Alberto v Toyota Motor Corp., 289 Mich App 328, --- NW2d ---- (2010). The Iowa Supreme Court ruled in favor of her client's position that the Iowa statute of repose is not tolled for minors. See Albrecht v General Motors, 648 NW2d 87 (2002).
