Parris Schmidt represents clients in construction defect litigation and products liability claims. With an emphasis in construction defect litigation, he represents developers, general contractors, subcontractors and product manufacturers in multi-party complex construction defect, mold and personal injury actions involving condominium and single-family home developments and mixed-use commercial and housing projects throughout Northern California.
For his developer and general contractor clients, Parris has successfully negotiated favorable settlements and recovered a substantial portion of the defense fees and costs from the additional insured carriers. In addition to his developer and general contractor clients, Parris' practice also focuses on representing concrete subcontractors. He has handled numerous cases involving claims of "sulfate attack," alkali silica reaction, moisture intrusion and other alleged foundation defects.
Parris has jury trial experience as a second chair in a six-week complex construction defect trial, which resulted in a defense verdict and an award of costs and expert fees for his framing contractor client. Parris successfully defended the jury's verdict on appeal and petition to the Supreme Court.
